Class Materials
Now is a good time to make sure that your child has their supplies. Please check to make sure your child has each day their headphones, assignment notebook, and home folder. We will continue to have reading and math homework throughout the year Monday-Thursday.
Winter 2020 Parent University - Parenting and Technology: Why Our Kids Are Growing Up Differently
The Winter 2020 D47 Parent University event will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lundahl Middle School, 560 Nash Rd. in Crystal Lake. Prairie Ridge High School counselor Missy Berg will discuss how technology and parenting strategies are affecting our kids' generation, known as Generation Z or iGen. Parents will learn how to help their children develop healthy peer and adult relationships, improve communication, cope and manage emotions, and increase self-efficacy/confidence. Purrfect Cat Rescue
Coventry Student Council is doing a community drive for the Purrfect Cat Rescue Shelter. Student Council is collecting basic household supplies like paper towels, disinfectant wipes, hand soap, hand sanitizer, garbage bags, dryer sheets, and more. The drive runs from January 21st through February 7th. Thank you for your support!
100th Day of School
With no emergency days between now and then: Monday, February 3rd, 2020 will be the 100th day. Feel free to join in on this fun day and dress up.
The Great Kindness Challenge
The Great Kindness Challenge starts next week! We will have spirit days and a coins for kindness collection. Students will vote on the charity for the coins next week. Please look in your child’s home folder for a flyer on these events.

Math
Well, this week we have learned how to use a protractor.
We have been naming angles and now measuring them. We will continue to work on geometry for the next few weeks. Remember, we jumped to unit 8. You will find your child’s homework packet in their home folder.
Language Arts
The class started studying traditional literature. We read a folktale this week and plotted the story line.
Science
Students had fun exploring magnets this week. We found out magnets stick to iron.
