Now is a good time to ask your child if they have working headphones. Being a one-to-one classroom with chromebooks means we use headphones quite frequently. Sometimes they break. Thanks for checking in with them.
This week we finished researching Antarctica. We learned about Adelie penguins building rock nests, fractured ice, Palmer Station, “the green flash”, and about krill. Many students had different opinions on if they would visit Antarctica. We studied first and secondhand accounts. We also began learning about the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. We will continue to work on this topic with writing interview questions.
We took the unit 6 math test today. Unit 7 also focuses on fractions, but we are going to use next week before spring break to review skills before state testing.
The students are learning about the west region of the United States. We have been learning about tourist stops in California, Colorado, and Hawaii. I have passed out practice cards for your child to practice matching up the states with a picture.
We will have a states and capitals quiz on Thursday, the 21st
