We finished our measurement and conversions unit. I have already passed back your child’s assessment and you should find it in their home folder. Next week we start fractions and discussing mixed numbers, improper fractions, and equivalent fractions. We will continue to work on fractions for unit 6.
This week we read two Storyworks articles. We focused on how authors write ledes. We discussed author’s purpose for writing. The class is really doing a great job using context clues to figure out word meanings.
The class completed the science investigation, Breaking the Force. The kids used balances, weights, and magnets to measure the force between two magnets. After we collected the data we graphed our results. We determined that as space increases between two magnets, the force weakens.
Please check with your child to make sure they have working headphones at school. I have been sending home headphones that are not working. We are a one-to-one chromebook classroom, so we do use the headphones almost daily to work on programs. Thanks for your help.
Check with your child to see if the need new glue sticks. We find this time of year we run low.
