Beginning of The Year

Hello students and parents!

I thought I would take a minute to update everyone on what has been going on in music class the last couple weeks.

As I am new here, I have really enjoyed spending these last two weeks getting to know students, parents, and staff at Canterbury! In class, we have been playing a lot of get-to-know-you musical games such as Musical Hot Potato, Name That Tune, Poison Rhythm, and many more. I wanted to dedicate the beginning of school strictly to students getting to know me and visa versa, and I have loved every minute. I was very impressed with the student's ability to guess different instruments in our game, 'What's That Sound?'.

I have heard some students express interest in taking short piano lessons with me. This is an opportunity I would LOVE to provide for them! However, with it being the beginning of the year, it will still take some time to figure out how this is most effectively going to happen. Please stay tuned while I talk to the administration about trying to offer this! Any further questions regarding potential piano lessons, please feel free to reach out to me.

I am having such a great time at Canterbury and I cannot wait to continue working with your students!

Next week we will be focusing on learning the school song with Orff instruments (percussion and xylophones)!

Thanks so much for stopping by and again, never hesitate to reach out to me with questions, comments, or concerns!
