FINAL PROJECTS - COMPLETED!
Thank you to everyone who submitted recordings for their ensemble’s final projects! After many hours of audio and video editing, we have the final products to share! To recap, each student submitted a recording of themselves playing their band’s project song, following the click track and accompaniment in SmartMusic. With each student recording only their own part, we then layered everyone together into a virtual band. Sixth Grade and Seventh Grade submitted audio recordings and Eighth Grade and Jazz Ensemble submitted video recordings. Please use the following links to listen to your band’s final performance.
Sixth Grade: Fires of Mazama
Seventh Grade: The Blue Orchid
Eighth Grade: Darklands March
Jazz Ensemble: Eli's Comin'
TODAY - 8th grade locker drop off/pick up
- BAND UNIFORMS: Please put your pants/skirt on a hanger in the garment bag. Bow ties should be put in the pocket on the back. Vests should be on a hanger in the garment bag.
- DO NOT return your white tuxedo shirt, that is yours to keep
- REMOVE any other random items from the garment bag, such as socks or shoes. Returning extra things back to you will be nearly impossible in the current climate.
- Your bag came with your name on it in the clear pocket on the front. If yours is missing, please put a slip of paper with your name on it in the pocket to help us with check in.
- SCHOOL OWNED INSTRUMENTS: Make sure you remove all personal items (reeds, slide grease, etc) If your name is not on the case please use a piece of masking tape and put it on the outside.
- BOOKS: Blue or green Tradition of Excellence Books (not red)
- ADDITIONAL ITEMS: such as tuba stands, mouthpieces, etc. If it belongs to the Bernotas Band department, please return it.
SUMMER BAND - The district will not be holding any in-person summer school programs this year, which includes our traditional summer band. To provide opportunities for students who are interested in even a little bit of playing this summer, we have created a special Google Classroom where we will be posting information throughout the summer. Nothing is required, this is just a resource for keeping the chops up the next few months. Already available there are links to private lesson teachers, opportunities to continue working on your current Units of Study to get ahead for next year, and more things to come! Even if you only find one thing of interest, please join the classroom so you can be informed. To join, go to Google Classroom (classroom.google.com) and use class code: fwqhgde.
THAT’S A WRAP
We are so proud of all of our students for making the transition to remote learning and working hard to end the year strong! Most of our students have been diligent in giving this new situation a genuine try and have benefitted in staying the course. We have colleagues in many other places around the state and country who have reported their students struggling to be as resilient as ours...which makes us EXTRA proud! We may not yet know what the fall will look like as we eventually return to our building, but as directors we are confident that our program will continue strong with the addition of our incoming 6th graders and our newest 7th and 8th graders! For our band students who are moving on to high school as of today...we will MISS YOU!! Once a bandling, always a bandling is not just a phrase. It means you always have a place here with us. We hope you will keep in touch and come back to visit!!
To all of you, enjoy your well-earned summer!
