Six District 47 students were selected as winners of the 12th annual Douglas Automotive art contest. The contest was open to all Crystal Lake area youth in grades 1-5. Below are this year’s winners:
Best in show:
Kiera Annen, 3rd grade, Coventry
Best in class:
Vivan Hansen, 1st grade, Coventry
Izel Diaz, 2nd grade, Coventry
Zachary Korbecki, 3rd grade, Coventry
Jacob Veldhoff, 4th grade, Woods Creek
Isabella Costantini, 5th grade, Woods Creek
The creative and colorful artwork submitted was in keeping with this year’s theme of "Imagine a Car from Your Favorite Fairy Tale or Nursery Rhyme"!
Professional graphic designers reviewed the submissions and selected a finalist from each grade level. Winners from each grade (“best in class”) and an overall winner (“best in show”) were then chosen by Douglas Automotive owners Doug and Janet McAllister.
Each winner received $50 and will have his or her artwork framed and displayed at Douglas Automotive in Crystal Lake for one year. The artwork will then be returned to each student as a keepsake.
