NEW: Elevate Staff Recognition Program

Do you know someone in District 47 who’s going above and beyond for their students, school or the district?  

At the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, District 47 launched a new district wide staff recognition program called Elevate. The goal of the program is to identify and recognize District 47 employees who, in their contributions and service to the district, uphold and exemplify the district’s mission, vision and core values and who are making a difference in the lives of students, schools and the community. 

Any District 47 staff member is eligible for recognition and anyone (students, staff, parents and community members) can submit a nomination. Nominations are reviewed three times a year by the district’s recognition committee, comprised of educators, administrators and other staff members across the district. All nominees and winners are recognized at board of education meetings in November, February and April, and winners are announced on social media and during in-person celebrations at school.

This fall, 23 nominations were received and seven winners were chosen. The November 2021 Elevate winners are listed below. Click the links to learn more about them! 

  • Allison Bailes, 3rd grade teacher, Woods Creek Elementary School
  • Nicole Bolos, bilingual reading interventionist, North Elementary School
  • Erika Gumesindo, administrative assistant, Canterbury Elementary School
  • Amy Lilly, assistant principal, Canterbury Elementary School
  • Michele Manno, paraprofessional, Hannah Beardsley Middle School
  • Carlos Velazquez, custodian, Canterbury Elementary School 
  • Kristin Ziemba, social-emotional learning coordinator, South and West Elementary Schools

“Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 is rich with talented, passionate and dedicated employees,” said Denise Barr, director of communications and public engagement. “Every staff member has an important role, responsibility and stake in the growth and success of our students. We are excited to have this opportunity to highlight those going above and beyond every day for our students and schools.”
