This year we welcome three new administrators to our leadership team. Learn a little bit about them below!
Josh Gschwend joined District 47 in 2021 as an assistant principal at Hannah Beardsley Middle School. Mr. Gschwend started his career as a math teacher and dean in central Illinois before serving as an assistant principal at Morton High School from 2012-2016. He and his family then moved to the area where he served as the math department chair at Huntley High School from 2016-2021. Mr. Gschwend earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 2002 from Eureka College and his master’s degree in educational leadership with an administrative endorsement in 2010 from Bradley University.
Rebecca Morton has served as an English Language Learner specialist at Woods Creek Elementary School for the past six years. Prior to her experiences in District 47, Mrs. Morton taught grades 1-3 in Grayslake Community Consolidated School District 46 for a collective 12 years. She has served on District 47’s ELL committee, and also as a PBIS building coach, new teacher mentor and teacher leader for a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence event in her previous school districts and has volunteered for the Crystal Lake Summer Lunch program for the past four years. Mrs. Morton has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degree in special education from Northern Illinois University. She also holds an ELL endorsement from National Louis University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Aurora University. She is a Crystal Lake resident with children currently enrolled in District 47’s dual language program.
Ryan Schaefer joined District 47 in June 2021 as the assistant principal at Coventry Elementary School. Dr. Schaefer has been in education for 15 years, starting out as a teacher (grades 3, 5 and 7) then becoming an instructional coach for Huntley School District 158. He has earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education; a master's degree in leadership and administration; a master's degree in literacy; and a doctoral degree in literacy. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Judson University.
