8th Grade Honors Night

We are currently preparing for 8th grade honors night. While this will look different than in the past due to the pandemic, we are happy to announce that 8th grade parents/guardians will be provided with several options for celebrating this important milestone in their student’s academic career.

  • Option 1: An outdoor ceremony at a District 155 high school;
  • Option 2: A walk-through at each middle school; or
  • Option 3: No in-person event; students’ certificate and any recognitions/awards will be mailed to the home address on file.

See below for more inforrmation about Options 1 and 2:

Tuesday, May 25: Outdoor ceremony at a District 155 high school

  • Similar to past honors night events but on a smaller scale
  • May be multiple outdoor ceremonies depending on preferences and COVID restrictions on large group gatherings
  • Event will include the distribution of certificates and a short address by the principal
  • No rain date in case of inclement weather due to scheduling conflicts with the high schools
  • Outdoor photo opportunity

Wednesday, May 26: Walk-through event at each middle school

  • Intended for one individual at a time (not a large group)
  • Not a ceremony and no address by the principal; students will receive certificates/awards only
  • Indoor/outdoor photo opportunity

Please indicate your 8th grade honors night preference by choosing one of the three options stated above and submitting this brief survey. The survey will be open until 5pm on Friday, March 19. Your submission will serve as your choice. Until we can gauge interest in and comfort level with these in-person events, we cannot forecast logistics, such as the number of tickets that can be issued per family. If you do not submit a form, we will assume that you do not want to attend an in-person event and would prefer that your student’s certificate and any awards/recognitions be mailed to your home.
