National Night Out Art Contest

CLPD and Ethan Mally for NNO photo

Glacier Ridge fifth grader Ethan Mally’s artwork was chosen by the Crystal Lake Police Department to represent this year’s National Night Out event in August. National Night Out is a public event hosted by police departments across the country to unite with residents of the communities in which they serve.

On May 31, Crystal Lake police officers and Chief Black presented Ethan with a framed copy of his artwork and a National Night Out T-shirt with his winning design. The art contest is a partnership between District 47 and the Crystal Lake Police Department and is open to all third, fourth and fifth grade students. Drawings from each school are collected by art teachers and submitted to the police department for judging. T-shirts with the student's winning design are distributed at the National Night Out event in August. This year’s event will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 5pm at Three Oaks Recreation Area.
