Furlong holds a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in speech pathology and audiology and master’s degrees in special education (Roosevelt University), literacy (Olivet Nazarene University) and educational leadership (Concordia University). She received her director of special education endorsement from the University of St. Francis. In addition, she is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction from Aurora University.
“We look forward to welcoming Mrs. Furlong back to District 47,” said Superintendent Dr. Kathy Hinz. “Her background and leadership in the areas of special education and early childhood will help us continue to build and enhance programming and educational services for our youngest learners.”
“I am excited to have this opportunity to come back to where I first started my career and where I call my home,” said Furlong. “Early childhood education is at the heart and foundation of all student learning and I’m excited to share my passion with District 47.”
