Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 is proud to announce three recipients of the 2018 Illinois State Board of Education’s Those Who Excel awards. All will be honored, along with other Those Who Excel winners from around the state, at ISBE’s 44th annual recognition dinner on October 20th at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Normal. The program honors individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to Illinois public and non-public elementary and secondary schools. Those Who Excel winners from District 47 are:
Maureen Biermeier, Special Education Teacher, Glacier Ridge Elementary
Mary Lichtenberger, First Grade Teacher, Glacier Ridge Elementary School
Maureen and Mary won an award of excellence in the Team category. Over the past several years, the two educators have worked together to form an integrated team to meet the needs of all students. Together, they have found innovative and effective ways to unite general education students with those with special needs, expanding the social-emotional growth of all students and exemplifying the District’s new mission of “empowering all students.”
