Spring PARCC Assessment

PARCC logo

District 47 students in grades 3-8 will take the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) assessment this spring beginning March 6, 2017 and ending April 24, 2017.

The exam will continue to align to the new Illinois Learning Standards and maintain its focus on critical thinking, concept mastery, and writing skills. The PARCC assessment aims to provide reliable and valid information about student achievement that students, families, teachers, and schools can use to improve teaching and learning for individual students and students as a group.

Like last year, District 47 students will be taking the PARCC test electronically via computer and will be exposed to sample items and practice tests prior to the testing window in their classrooms. For PARCC practice at home, parents can access resources here.

Questions or concerns about PARCC testing can be directed to a student's teacher or building principal. See letter below for a parent letter from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) explaining the purpose behind testing as a measure of accountability.
