West Elementary Events & Activities
West is a great school that creates opportunities for students to participate in a variety of activities. Listed below are many of the activities/clubs that West offered last year. We look forward to many of these to be offered again this school year along with some new opportunities. We will send information home as well as update our website when these opportunities begin.
- Mileage Club - Wildcat Mileage Club is a running/walking club for West students sponsored by the WPO. Students may choose to run or walk during lunch recess on a designated track. Progress is tracked by parent volunteers via an iPad. Students earn tokens for laps completed. Students may increase their daily exercise, set goals, have fun with friends or make new friends while running or walking.
- Music Opportunities - Our 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in chorus and musicals. Fifth graders are also offered the opportunity to play in the band! In the spring of their 4th grade year, students have the opportunity to try out instruments to find what suits them. In the fall, full band meets one morning a week and one time a week during the school day to practice. There are several band performances throughout the school year. Click here to view the District 47 band website and to obtain a sign-up form to register.
- Safety Patrol- The Safety Patrol provides our 4th and 5th graders with the opportunity to help keep our school safe. Student responsibilities include helping our students during arrival and dismissal and assisting all students as they walk to and from school.
- Wee Deliver - West School has a postal service within the school to send and receive mail. Students learn about the basic postal service, sorting and delivering mail. Not only do students participate by writing letters but they also have the opportunity to work the post office. The 3rd grade students deliver the mail and 4th grade students sort the mail.
