Dear LMS families,
As I begin my first year as the principal at Lundahl Middle School l, I am excited for the opportunity to continue my career here. Over the last year, I have truly enjoyed getting to know our students and families and look forward to meeting more of you this year. Supporting your children as they navigate through their middle school years is the most important part of my job. I know that a strong partnership between home and school will help make their time at LMS a positive and productive experience.
This year, we have a new assistant principal joining our administrative team. Mrs. Mindy Merritt has been in District 47 for 16 years as a learning resource teacher at both Bernotas Middle School and most recently here at Lundahl. We are so excited to have her join our team and know she will make be an excellent resource for our students and families.
Please continue to watch our website throughout the summer to see new additions and changes to our staff. We will also be updating the schedule for our 6th and 7th grade students for the fall so please review the website to see what a typical day will look like for your son or daughter.
This past year, our students and staff worked together to set NWEA MAP goals for individual students, grade levels and for our entire school. The following information was shared with students, families and staff at the start of the 2014-2015 school year:
- Current Reality: 51.8% of our students met or exceeded growth expectations on the 2013-2014 administration of the Reading MAP assessment. Goal 1: 60% of our students will meet or exceed growth expectations on the 2014-2015 administration of the Reading MAP assessment.
- Current Reality: 58.1% of our students met or exceeded growth expectations on the 2013-2014 administration of the Math MAP assessment. Goal 2: 63% of our students will meet or exceed growth expectations on the 2014-2015 administration of the Math Map assessment.
As we start back to school at the end of August, the teachers will be reviewing individual, class and grade level data to determine our progress towards meeting those goals. At that point, we will share with you our successes and continued areas for growth. I can assure you that this year our students and staff will continue to work diligently to meet the more rigorous expectations that the Common Core State Standards have set. I am proud of their continued efforts and look forward to seeing even more growth in the future.
I look forward to seeing you in August! Enjoy the rest of your summer break and feel free to contact us if you need anything.
Mrs. Angie Compere
