About Wehde Early Childhood Center
Wehde Early Childhood Center opened in the fall of 2001 as a permanent home for the district’s early childhood programs. The center is housed within Glacier Ridge Elementary School and serves approximately 300 preschool students each year with the help of 65 qualified staff. Pam White serves as the center's director.
Wehde has two primary offerings targeted to preschool students: a special education program, which includes speech and language therapy and diagnostic/ screening services; and a blended preschool program, which serves the needs of both general education and special education students in a blended classroom setting.
Early childhood classes consist of morning and afternoon sessions.
- Morning classes serve 3-year-olds and meet from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Students are eligible once they turn 3 years old.
- Afternoon classes serve 4-year-olds and meet from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students must be 4 years old by September 1 to be eligible.
Wehde's early childhood classrooms typically follow the District 47 school calendar. Parents are notified of any exceptions and special dates that arise during the school year. Bus service is available for all children enrolled in a Wehde early childhood program.
Wehde Early Childhood Center is a busy place! We are constantly striving to better meet the changing, diverse needs of our young learners.
