MCHELP - Free Mobile App for McHenry County Residents
Did you know McHenry County residents (including teens and tweens) have access via text 24/7 to licensed mental health providers? Originally launched as “Text A Tip,” the MCHELP free mobile app is an anonymous texting service that provides McHenry County youth and adults the ability to confidentially text concerns related to stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, etc. -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week -- to trained, licensed mental health counselors. MCHELP routes texts through a cloaking server so texters are completely anonymous, allowing individuals with concerns (for themselves or others) the freedom to reach out for help while remaining anonymous.Besides the "live" connection to mental health clinicians, the MCHELP app provides information about:
- "A Way Out" - Easy access for treatment as well as amnesty to individuals with drug and alcohol use disorders.
- "QPR - Question, Persuade, Refer" - Reduces suicidal behaviors through this proven suicide prevention training program.
- 211 McHenry County health & human resources via text or voice call - Live phone advice on housing, employment, family issues and social service support available.
- McHenry County Mental Health Board network - Behavior health support lists and links.
