About Me

  • About Mrs. Goodman!

Posted by Rebecca Goodman on 8/31/2018

Growing up, I knew I always wanted to be a teacher. My little brother Evan endured hours upon hours of learning his ABC's and 123's in the basement of our house long ago even before reaching Kindergarten! (Thanks, bro, I owe it all to you!)

My passion continued to grow as I went through school, starting from elementary and all the way through college! From Kindergarten to 2nd grade, I went to Kilmer Elementary School. From 3rd to 5th grade, I went to Prairie Elementary School, then onto Twin Groves Middle School, and finally to Stevenson High School!

From there, I went on to college at Illinois State University (go Redbirds!) to get my Bachelors Degree, to which my dad is an alum. My senior year, I participated in a year long student teaching program in Pekin, Illinois to help me prepare to teach! I'm a life-long learner, and last summer I just finished my first Masters Degree in Literacy from Northern Illinois University, to which my sister is an alum!

I'm so excited for another great year at South!

  • Morning Arrival Note

Posted by Rebecca Goodman on 11/8/2019 7:00:00 PM

For morning arrival, if your child is a car rider, please ensure they are dropped off between 8:30-8:50 am. Students dropped off between 8:50-9:00am, need to proceed through the front door and go directly to their classroom if there is no supervisor outside. Any child being dropped off at 9:00 am or later, since classroom instruction has already begun, will need to be brought in the building by a parent to sign the child in at the front office.  Thank you for your assistance in making sure our students are here on time, ready to start their day!

  • Brr!

Winter weather is here! Please make sure that your child is properly dressed in a coat and any other winter accessories as needed.  A sweatshirt is not enough to be able to go outside for recess.

5Essentials Survey: This fall, students, staff, and parents across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the eighth annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials survey. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about our school. The parent survey (available in English and Spanish) is now open and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. One survey may be completed and submitted for each child by either parent. We hope you will take this opportunity to provide us with your feedback. To access the survey, please visit http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/.
