District 47 receives funds in the form of grants from the federal government as part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), also known as the No Child Left Behind Act, to support its educational mission. The following information is provided as per the requirements of the grants that support District programs.
Annual Measure of Achievement Objectives (AMAO)
The No Child Left Behind Act requires District 47 to post the results of the District’s progress in meeting the Title III Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAO) for English Language Learners (ELLs). Districts are evaluated annually on three objectives:
- the percentage of students who make progress in learning English
- the percentage of students who become proficient in English
- Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for English Language Learners based on student test participation, graduation, attendance and achievement in reading and math
Note: Title III-funded districts must meet all three objectives in order to meet AMAO qualifications. During 2013-2014 school year, District 47 did not meet the State-set targets for AMAOs for ELLs. You may view the District’s AMAO data at http://www.isbe.net/bilingual/htmls/amao_parent_letters.htm.
