  • NPTO Help!!

Posted by Danielle Bredemus on 2/11/2019

    A message from our NPTO:

It has come to the NPTO Executive Board’s attention that several NPTO Program Chair positions will be vacated next year, mainly due to parents whose 5thgraders are graduating from North. These positions include:

    • Teacher Assistance Program Chair (TAP)
    • Starbucks PBIS Program Chair
    • Book Fair Program Chair
    • Student Directory Program Chair
    • School Supply Box Program Chair
    • Shop and Share Program Chair

Without volunteers to run the TAP and Starbucks Programs, we are concerned that teachers will end up burdened with this additional load – so we are asking for your help to prevent this from happening! If you are interested, please let our co-presidents, Elizabeth Mitchell and Misty Zimmerman know (d47npto@gmail.com). Thank you for considering!

  • Girls on the Run

Posted by Danielle Bredemus on 1/13/2019

Girls on the Run Club Girls on the Run is an after-school program for girls grades 3-5 at North starting March 4th meeting twice a week (M/W) from 3:30-5:00 p.m.  It runs 10 weeks (skipping the week of spring break) and ends with a celebration 5k with all of the GOTR teams of McHenry County!  Not a “runner”—don’t worry since it is not a running club!  GOTR is about inspiring girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind.  Trained coaches lead the girls through researched-based curricula which include dynamic discussions, activities and running games.  It doesn’t matter if you run, walk, skip or jump your way through it!

Registration is all online at https://www.raceplanner.com/register/index/GOTRNWIL-2019-Program-Registration or parents can go to www.gotrnwil.org and click on NorthElementary to register which opens on Jan 9th and goes through Feb 15th (or until full).  There is a cost for the program but I can not stress enough that it is a sliding scale fee so that families pay what they can afford for the program!!  The goal is that every girl who wants to participate can regardless of income!

Marengo Ridge: Please be sure your child wears comfy outdoor shoes and has bug spray on for our field trip on Tuesday! We will be leaving the school at 9:00 and returning at 2:00. Our activities include looking for rocks on the land where glaciers once were, walking around a trail, playing a game about rocks & minerals, and defining rocks & minerals. We will start this science unit in a couple of weeks. This trip was scheduled early than normal.

  • WTW - Spelling

Posted by Danielle Bredemus on 9/10/2018

I am sending home a "practice round" list of words for our spelling program (Words Their Way). We all are doing the same words so I can teach the activities. There is a blue paper being sent home which has the spelling activities that can be done at home. I will let you know when we get our workbooks and leveled lists!
