Take a look at what we've been up to!

    Literacy

In ELA this week, we learned about the characteristics of fairytales. We also read a few different versions of Cinderella (Adelita is the Mexican version). There are many versions from many countries around the world. We compared and contrasted the original Cinderella to the Chinese version called Ye Shen. We were able to find many similarities (compare) and differences (contrast). We even started practicing and reviewing scripts on fairytales, so we can model after them to create our own. We will be starting to create our own play scripts, puppets and backgrounds based on one of the versions of Cinderella we have read in class. We can't wait to perform them and display them on SeeSaw for parents to see!

Please remember that your child should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. If he/she does not have reading books at home, they are welcome to receive a daily reading baggie will familiar books to read at home. Please do make sure those baggies get returned because we do use them and share them as a whole school.

    Math

In math, we completed unit 5 with our unit test on Monday. We started unit 6 on three digit addition and subtraction. We learned about counting numbers to 1, 000 (6.1), place value (6.2), and comparing numbers up to 1, 000 (5.3). We have had a lot of students pass their addition test on XtraMath and earn their addition certificate! Way to go! Remember, the more you practice, the better you'll get. Don't forget to do XtraMath on the weekends and earn Sabre bucks!

    Science

We have been working hard on the motion portion of our "Balance and Motion" unit. We have worked on many motion-based investigations: tops, zoomerstwirlers, rollers, etc. We have an amazing culminating activity coming up that the students will love!

    Health

Don't forget to keep kiddos at home if they are not feeling well (as a precaution). We want to keep all students and families healthy!
