    REMOTE LEARNING

    We begin August 24th at 8:00am.  Attendance will be taken.  Unlike last year, we will not be flexible to times we are teaching on zoom.  Students will be expected to participate and be on zoom or will be marked absent.  More information will be sent on seesaw and by e-mail, soon!  

     

    IMPORTANT REMINDERS:  

     

    Distribution Dates and Times:  

    Wed., August 19 --4:00-6:00pm

    Thurs., August 20 -- 12:15-2:15pm

    Fri., August 21-- 8:00-10:00am

     

    Parents, please see below the information in regards to material distribution.

    We will have 2 stations set up for distribution:

    • Front Door #1- for pick up A-K 
    • Side/Back Door #14/15- for pick up L-Z 

    Front of the building Door #1- main entrance

    • Parents please pull up, share their notecard with the student's last/first name and open their trunk/hatch.
    • Families with the last name beginning with A-K. A staff member will load child(rens) items into your trunk/hatch.  

    Side of the building-By Door #14/15- Fourth Grade Door

    • Parents please  pull up, share their notecard with the student's last/first name and open their trunk/hatch.
    • Families with the last name beginning with L-Z, continue on Golf and pull into the parking lot near the playground. A staff member will load child(rens) items into your trunk/hatch.  

    When you receive your box of supplies, please consider this as your student(s) “desk” during remote learning. It is a space where they can keep their supplies organized. Please keep the box intact for if/when there is a second distribution day for more materials. The same box can be used to pick up more supplies as well as a way to return your student(s) supplies at the end of remote learning.

    Looking for a workspace for your student(s) and feel an actual desk would be helpful in your home?  District 47  is offering student desks to the community to borrow during this time. If you are interested in obtaining a desk on loan (at no cost to you), please email desks@d47.org and the district office will assist you.

     

    Student Assignment Notebooks - These notebooks are $4.00 each for grades 2-5.  Please provide exact cash or check made payable to South Elementary for the assignment notebook. Just place the cash or check (in an envelope) in your trunk.  We will grab the money and place the assignment notebook along with the rest of the materials in the trunk.  This ensures a no contact exchange.

     

    Reading Incentive Information:  We hope you have all been reading this summer and filling out your reading logs!  It is time to turn them in.  We have extended the due date for the reading logs to Friday, August 28th.  That is the final day, no exceptions!  If you have misplaced your log, you can go to the South website and click on the link in the South News: Summer Reading Story, to print a new log. 

    There are two options for turning in your logs. You can physically place them in the drop boxes at the South school entry by Friday, August 28th or turn them in digitally by taking a picture of your completed log and sending it to rnjohnson@d47.org, to earn your prizes!  MAKE SURE YOUR NAME (FIRST AND LAST) AND THIS YEAR’s TEACHER'S NAME (which will be released next week) ARE ON YOUR FORMS.  Thank you to those of you that participated!    --Your Summer Reading Incentive Committee
