REMINDER: With the increase of allergies and health conditions among our student population, no outside food/treats/candy is being allowed to be brought into the schools for elementary classroom holiday parties (Halloween, Winter, and Valentine’s Day). The students are just as happy to receive stickers, pencils, and/or do craft projects during the 45-minute holiday parties and the risks to our students and amount of food thrown away is significantly reduced and/or eliminated. If room parents organizing a holiday party feel strongly about providing a food item or treat for the entire classroom, they may work with the classroom teacher and the District’s food service provider, Sodexo, to select an item from the “safe foods” list. Please note: If the decision is made by the room parent(s) to order a food item from Sodexo for a holiday party, the cost of providing the item is the responsibility of the parent(s) organizers. Parents may be asked for (but not required to provide) a monetary donation to help cover the cost of the food. Alternatively, instead of parents donating treats, snacks, etc. for parties like they’ve done in the past, they can be encouraged instead to donate other items, such as stickers, pencils, craft supplies, etc. to offset party costs for activities.
