I started as a substitute and quickly became inspired by the teachers. I also discovered that I related with the ELL students as I was once in their shoes. When I was a kid back in India, my family spoke the Indian language, but in school, I was expected to use English. Between loving the staff and feeling connected with the students, I was motivated to get my Master’s and became an ELL Specialist.

This is the coolest job I’ve ever had, and I believe I’ll do this job forever. I love the team that we have and I can’t wait to see where my students are 5 years from now. It truly takes a village to teach in ASPIRE and give these kids the best possible experience and future.

My team is my rock here. Even though we all teach different subjects, they are my closest friends, and we are constantly there for each other at the drop of a dime. Every day I come in, I look forward to strengthening my relationships with my students. It’s fun making music with the kids, but it’s even more fun connecting with them.

I have made friends since working here and even have friendships with my dual language counterparts at the other middle schools. It’s nice because some of those friends are from Peru and Spain, so I get to have these international conversations and connections with them.
