Nicole Thompson Receives Inaugural Turning Point Heart Award

We are proud to share that Nicole Thompson, health teacher at Bernotas Middle School, was honored with the very first Turning Point Heart Award at this year’s Paint the Night Purple Gala.

Presented by Turning Point, the award recognizes a community member who champions safe, respectful relationships and prevention education. Nicole was selected for her ongoing commitment to her students and her strong partnership with Turning Point’s prevention programs.

In her classroom, Nicole creates an inclusive space where students learn about respect, boundaries, and how to build safe, supportive relationships. Every February, during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Nicole helps organize Wear Orange Day at Bernotas to support survivors and raise awareness.

“Nicole gives every student who walks through her door the resources and support to make choices that work for them,” shared a Turning Point representative. “She brings heart, passion, and unwavering dedication to this work.”

Congratulations to Nicole on this well-deserved recognition! Your impact is felt across our school and community.
