District 47 Welcomes Jason Brogan as New Director of Literacy and Social Science

We are proud to announce that Jason Brogan has been named the new Director of Literacy and Social Science for District 47, beginning July 1, 2026.

Mr. Brogan has spent the past 19 years in District 47, with the last 7 years dedicated to supporting the staff, students, and families of Woods Creek Elementary as assistant principal. Before serving as assistant principal, he taught at Indian Prairie and Woods Creek and was a language arts and social studies teacher at Bernotas. In addition, Brogan served as District 47’s English language arts and social studies facilitator.

“Mr. Brogan’s experience as the District 47 English language arts and social studies facilitator, along with his master’s degree in literacy education, made him a natural fit for this role,” said Dr. Kathy J. Hinz, superintendent. “Even more than that, Jason is someone who leads with heart, values relationships, and always keeps students at the center of the work. We are excited to see him lead the implementation of our new elementary writing and middle school ELA curriculum.”

“I’m incredibly honored to step into this role,” said Jason Brogan. “I love our district and community, and being in a position to serve all students, staff, and administrators is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. We have great and important work ahead, and I’m eager to get started.”

Brogan holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and master's degrees in literacy education and educational administration from Northern Illinois University. In addition to his career in education, Brogan is a certified firefighter and EMT, and has served part-time as a member of the Rutland-Dundee Fire Protection District for 11 years.

Mr. Brogan was board-approved on June 15, 2026, and District 47 is excited to welcome him for the 2026-2027 school year.
