District 47 Names New Principal for Glacier Ridge Elementary for the 2026-2027 School Year

We are pleased to announce that Angela Carvell will be the new principal of Glacier Ridge Elementary School starting in the 2026-2027 school year.

Mrs. Carvell has 15 years of experience in education. Before joining District 47, she spent nine years teaching across all content areas, with the majority of her experience in math and social studies, supporting students with a range of learning needs.  For the past seven years, Carvell has served in District 47, including six years as assistant principal at Lundahl Middle School and, most recently as assistant principal at Glacier Ridge.

“The experience gained from leading schools with specialized and dual language programming has prepared her to support diverse learners, build strong school communities, and lead with a student-centered approach,” said Dr. Kathy Hinz, superintendent. “She understands what it takes to build an inclusive community where everyone can grow, empower, and thrive.”

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the next Glacier Ridge principal,” said Angela Carvell. “I am truly excited to partner with an exceptional staff, inspiring students, and dedicated families as we work together each day to unlock every student's potential. Having already had the privilege of serving the Crystal Lake and Glacier Ridge Elementary School community as an assistant principal, I could not be more proud to continue this journey alongside such an incredible group of people.”

Mrs. Carvell earned her bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and her master’s degree in educational leadership, along with a principal endorsement, from Aurora University.

Angela Carvell was board-approved on June 15, 2026, and District 47 is excited to welcome her for the 2026-2027 school year.
