District 47 Celebrates Growth in 2024 Illinois Report Card Data
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released the 2024 Illinois Report Card data on Wednesday, October 30, and Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 is thrilled to share some of the highlights and growth areas reflected in this report.
In the second year of implementing new English Language Arts (ELA) units of study and updated materials, the district is pleased to see steady improvement. For the second consecutive year, the percentage of students meeting or exceeding ELA expectations has risen, showing a 7 percent increase from 2023 to 2024.
While Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) math scores are slightly below the district’s goals, a new math curriculum has been implemented this year to address these scores, and there is optimism for future growth. A key achievement in this year’s data is our 8th-grade algebra pass rate, which has soared to an impressive 94.7%—an increase of nearly 50% over the past two years.
“Our district has made significant progress in academic growth, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together,” said Dr. Kathy J. Hinz, superintendent. “These accomplishments reflect the dedication of all our staff members, who work tirelessly to provide high-quality support for every student. However, our work is ongoing. Through our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), we continue to address the diverse academic needs and social-emotional development of all students, empowering them to succeed and thrive. We look forward to building on this momentum and ensuring every student reaches their fullest potential.”
Another component of the School Report Card is the annual summative designation for each school. Designations are based on academics, student success, school culture and climate, and financial investments. Click here for a detailed description of the five ISBE designation categories. This year, all District 47 schools earned a "Commendable" designation, with the exception of Coventry Elementary, designated for Targeted Support.
In 2023, Coventry Elementary initially received this designation due to performance in three student subgroups. However, the school has made significant progress over the past year, and following the approval of the District 47 Board of Education’s school improvement plan this summer, new data shows that Coventry now has only one underperforming subgroup, which is also performing better than last year with a ten-point improvement.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education’s website, “The Illinois State Board of Education annually releases a report card that shows how each school, district, and the state is performing on a wide range of educational goals.” View Crystal Lake Elementary District 47’s complete Illinois Report Card data at www.illinoisreportcard.com.
