District 47 Board Approves New Director of Math, Science, STEM, and Health

We are proud to announce that Angela Maki has been named the new Director of Math, Science, STEM, and Health for District 47, effective on July 1, 2026. Maki will succeed Carolyn Stadlman, who will retire at the end of the current 2025-26 school year.

Maki joins District 47 with 18 years of professional experience, including six years in her current role as principal of Melzer Elementary School in East Maine District 63. Prior to becoming a principal, she served as both an assistant principal and a third-grade teacher. She has led the implementation and support of new academic programming and demonstrated a proven track record of improving student achievement.

“We are thrilled to have Angela step into this significant role for District 47," said Dr. Kathy Hinz, superintendent. “Her background shows that she is focused on individualized instruction for students, supporting staff, and aligning initiatives to the district’s strategic plan. These are all leadership qualities we value in District 47.”

According to Maki, "I am thrilled to step into this role and partner with the dedicated educators, families, and community of District 47. Building on the district's strong foundation, I look forward to advancing high quality instruction and ensuring every student has access to a meaningful, engaging, and equitable learning experience.”

Maki holds a master’s degree in school leadership from Concordia University and a bachelor’s degree in K-9 education from St. Norbert College. She was board approved on January 20, 2026, and District 47 is excited to welcome her at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
