D47 and D155 Resource Fair Supports Local Families

Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 and Crystal Lake Community High School District 155 partnered to help local families prepare for the new school year at the 2026 D47/D155 Resource Fair.

The event provided 382 D47 students and 100 D155 students with school supplies, essential items, health services, and connections to community resources, all at no cost to families.

Over 600 backpacks filled with school supplies, available in elementary, middle, and high school sizes, were given to families. The event also distributed 200 hygiene kits, 200 lunchboxes, 50 pairs of shoes, 50 laundry packs, 50 birthday packs, additional supplies, and empty backpacks. High school backpacks also included hygiene products.

In addition to supplies, families had access to a variety of health and wellness services. The McHenry County Department of Health mobile unit provided nine immunizations, while Greater Family Health completed 17 school physicals. Smile Illinois Mobile Dentists provided dental services to 28 students, and Pearl Vision conducted 75 vision screenings. Local hairstylists Jen Burman Roth, Dave Jenkins, Jessie Simms, and Alison DeCicco of Magnolia Salon also donated their time to provide haircuts.

The fair was made possible through the support of approximately 60 volunteers from Evangelical Free Church, Willow Creek, Hope Church, Iglesia Oasis, Gospel Collective, Crosspoint Lutheran, District 155, and District 47.

Families were also able to connect with a variety of local organizations and community resources, including NAMI McHenry County, Kids in Need McHenry County, First Institute, Crystal Lake Public Library, League of Women Voters, Free Summer Lunches Program, Chick-fil-A, and The Break Teen Center. Grilled hot dogs were provided for attendees, volunteers, and community partners.

The Resource Fair reflects the strong community partnerships that help ensure local students have the resources they need to start the school year ready to learn.

D47 and D155 extend their sincere thanks to the volunteers, health providers, hairstylists, community organizations, churches, businesses, and donors who helped make the 2026 Resource Fair possible. Their generosity and time helped make a meaningful difference for hundreds of local students and families.
