Mrs. Young

Thank you so much for visiting my page! My name is Chrissy Young and this will be my tenth year of teaching and third year teaching second grade at Woods Creek Elementary. I attended Illinois State University where I received my B.S. in Elementary Education in 2011. With the reading endorsement I received, I was able to start my teaching career in an incredible reading intervention and ongoing professional development program, Reading Recovery. I taught Reading Recovery for four years in Galesburg, IL and three years in Carbondale, IL, near my husband’s hometown. My husband, Corey, and I decided it would be best to plant our roots near his work and close to my hometown, DeKalb, a few years ago! The opportunity to teach at Woods Creek Elementary arose and I am so incredibly thankful to be a part of this fabulous district and this fabulous school! We have fallen in love with the area and are excited to grow our family in this wonderful community. I absolutely love teaching second grade and always look forward to spending my days with these bright eyed, smiley, inquisitive, kind and loving kiddos!

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family, especially our baby girl, Addilyn,  who was born in March of 2020! We love swimming in Grammie and Grandpa’s pool and watching her explore the world around her!! My husband and I enjoy traveling and have been to Ireland, Hawaii and St. Thomas, just to name a few!

I am honored to be a part of your child's learning career and look forward to working together to provide a wonderful learning experience for your child!
