Degrees and Certifications:
I grew up in a small town in Indiana. I lived there my whole life until I moved to college and then to Crystal Lake. I am the youngest of 8 kids. I love having a big family. I became an aunt when I was in third grade. Now I have 17 nieces and nephews (plus three more on my husband's side) and two great-nephews. That's right - I'm a great aunt!
I got married in 2004 to Mr. Chatham. We have been blessed with two beautiful daughters!
When I was in elementary school, I attended a Christian School from kindergarten through 3rd grade and then again from 6th through 8th. In 4th and 5th grade, I was home-schooled. I then went to public high school. Then I attended Valparaiso University and received my Bachelors of Music Education. Later, I received my Master's in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University.
I began taking violin lessons when I was five years old. Soon, I added piano and voice lessons too. I took weekly lessons on each instrument. Since there wasn't a violin teacher in our town, we drove 40 minutes each way so I could attend private lessons once a week and a group lessons on the weekend. I had to practice A LOT! It wasn't always fun, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
When I was in elementary school, I started to act in musicals. During my "career", I got to play a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz, Sandra D. in Grease, Little Mary in Little Mary Sunshine, Bridgitta in the Sound of Music, Lady Larkin in Once Upon a Mattress, and Rose in Meet Me in St. Louis.
I began giving private music lessons in violin, voice and piano when I was in high school. In 2002, I began working at Coventry and have been here ever since!
