Mrs. Norris

Welcome to my bio page!  Just a little about me.  This is now my fourth year back to teaching after enjoying some time off spent raising my daughter, who is now a sophmore in high school.  I taught Language Arts here at Bernotas many years ago, back when it was still North Middle School.  I am so happy to now teach my abosolute favorite subject of all time, MATH!  I teach both the Gifted Geometry class here, as well as Accelerated Algebra and Pre-Algebra.  Both strands of the discipline are exciting to teach in their own way.  I began my elementary education degree  at UW Madison.  After three years, I transferred back home with a full scholarship to finish my degree at Roosevelt University in Chicago (I saved A LOT of money).  Middle school is right where I want to be.  I truly enjoy the students at this age and accept the challenge to prepare my students for success in high school and beyond.

I grew up in Palatine, IL and have lived in the area my entire life (other than my stint at UW).  I have just one daughter with my husband of 23 years (who happened to go to middle school right here back when it was North Junior High).  We also have a yellow lab, Nellie, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Disney.  In my free time, I love to read good fiction, play tennis, and cook for my family.

My best friend in the whole world teaches on our team....Mrs. Campisi!  I feel so lucky!

I am very excited to start the 2018-19 school year.  We will start Viking Strong and finish Viking Strong.
