Degrees and Certifications:
I attended elementary and middle school in District 47 and graduated from Crystal Lake South High School in District 155. As a child, I was always a music enthusiast. I grew up listening to and singing along with Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald and Disney Classics! I began taking voice lessons in 7th grade, and piano lessons in 8th grade. Singing was such a huge passion of mine, so I decided to compete in vocal competitions, and became very active in musical theatre and choir in middle school and all throughout high school!
After high school, I realized I wanted to share my love of music with others! I attended college at Illinois State University and graduated with a degree in K-12 Music Education (Choral Emphasis) While at ISU, I was very active in Concert Choir, Madrigals and served as the music director for our student-run a cappella group called Secondary Dominance. While part of this group, we had the experience of competing in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella for two years and advanced to Semi-Finals! (Real-life Pitch Perfect!)Before graduation, I student-taught in District 47 at Woods Creek Elementary School and Bernotas Middle School. After graduating in 2011, I started my teaching career at South Elementary in District 47 as the general music teacher and choral director.
I feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of the Indian Prairie Community with such outstanding staff and parent support, and to be teaching my favorite musicians everyday!
