Kathy J. Hinz, Ed.D.
Dr. Hinz has served as Superintendent of District 47 since June 2013. She began her career with the District in August 1996 as a School Psychologist at Lundahl Middle School. In 2000, she became Assistant Administrator of Special Education and transitioned to Director of Special Education in 2005. She served as Assistant Superintendent of Professional Development and Student Services in 2009 before being selected as Superintendent in 2013.
In 2017, Dr. Hinz was named a “Woman of Distinction” by Shaw Media and received an award of merit for her active role in supporting public education by the Illinois chapter of the National School Public Relations Association. She was also recently named among 2017-18 “Superintendents to Watch” by the National School Public Relations Association. In addition to her role with District 47, Dr. Hinz serves on the board of directors for the Sage YMCA. Previously, she served on the Raue Center for the Arts and McHenry County Mental Health Boards and the Women's Network of School Administrators. She is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Greater McHenry County.
