Welcome to the 2017/18 school year! For those who are curious, here is a list of the units we will cover this school year. Only having each class for an hour a week, I am limited on the number of lessons and units that can be covered in a year. Some units we do every school year, some units will be covered every other year. Up for this year:
Fitness Testing (in September and April for grades 3-5 only)
Pillo polo (our version of floor hockey)
Jump Rope/Jump Rope for Heart
Heart Adventure Course
I Heart Encore week (something special in February!)
Plus, a variety of low organized games thorughout the year to focus on: teamwork, following directions, good sportsmanship, and having fun!
In November all studetns will be learning about bowling. We will be turning the gym into "Indian Prairie Lanes" and will even be having a disco bowling day. Some of the big ideas of this unit include: putting the correct fingers in the holes, keeping the ball on top of their hand, bending their knees, and stepping in opposition.
