Extended School Year (ESY)
To be eligible for District 47's Extended School Year (ESY) program, children must be receiving special education services and recommended for the summer program as part of their individualized education plan. ESY services are only provided to eligible students as determined by the IEP team. Teams will consider evidence of past regression of skills during extended breaks from school, and patterns of recoupment of skills when returning from breaks. The purpose of ESY is to help students maintain current skill levels. For more information on ESY, please see the Communication on Extended School Year Services provided by the Illinois State Board of Education.
The Extended School Year (ESY) program provides special education and related services to students with disabilities, beyond the normal school year in accordance with the child’s IEP. (ISBE 2005). If your child is eligible for ESY 2022 services, you will receive a registration link via email. Please contact your child's case manager if you have any questions.
