WELCOME OCTOBER!! There are 31 days in October, and today happens to be the 31st day of Kindergarten.
This week your child took the forst real test in Kindergarten. Look for the math test to come home next week. Grade are not given on the test, but look for comments and errors to see what your child might need to practice.
We continue to work on print skills. We have been reading poems and books and counting number of words. Each student received a kindergarten journal this week and learned how to draw a person who has a head, eyes, mouth, nose, ears, body, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Continue to practice this at home and remind your child that arms and legs are connected to our bodies not our heads. :) We made a class book called "I Can" after reading the Book, "The Little Engine That Could", and worked on writing the sight words "I' and "can" and using our fingers to leave space between words.
Please note the following message:
As a reminder, Parent Teacher Conferences will be held in November. I am excited to share your student's progress thus far, as well as the goals they have for continued progress. (Remember we want your student present at conferences to share their achievements and goals.)
This year conferences will be held:
Wednesday, November 20th 5:00pm-8:00pm Monday, November 25th 12:00pm-8:00pm Tuesday, November 26th 8:00am-11:00am
Please log in to ParentVue and choose CONFERENCE from the left hand menu to choose a day and time that works for you and your student(s). (If you have more than one student you will have to select each student separately to choose a date a time for a conference.) Your response will be automatically submitted to the teacher, while at the same time marking that time slot filled. (The time slots visible when you login are the only time slots currently available.) If you need to change the time of your conference, log back in to ParentVue, choose CONFERENCE, unselect your current time which will then allow you to choose a new time. (You will need to use a web browser to access the scheduling, this process will not work from the ParentVue app.)
If you would like to have an encore (Art, LMC, Music, PE or STEM), speech, reading teacher, or social worker included in your conference, please contact your child's homeroom teacher so she can make arrangements for that individual to be present.
Please contact your teacher or the main office if you have any questions or concerns.

We practice using the sight word "I" and Many of our lessons this week have focused on learning and practicing our Glacier Ridge School Expectations. We learned about earning Polar Paws and were able to buy something in the Polar store today.
We discussed what it means to have Whole Body listening. Ask your child if they remember some of the ways they can be a good listener by using their whole body.
You received some information this week about our EZ Write handwriting program. Our lessons start with learning the 8 different strokes. Today you will be receiving your child's first completed page from class. You will notice I highlighted the bottom portion of their paper. This is to practice the strokes at home. Once the 8 strokes are learned and practiced, we will begin using them in the 26 lowercase and uppercase letters. I will go over this curriculum on Parent Night Thursday.
I hope to see all of you at Parent Night this Thursday. Click on the link below to access more information about Parent Night.
(I linked this all by myself Rob!)
