The original building of West Elementary School was constructed in 1963. There have been many additions throughout the years. In 1972 the Library Media Center and many additional classrooms were constructed on the west end of the building. Our present gymnasium and art room were completed in 1980, followed by two more classrooms in 1988.
Eight years ago, West had extensive construction with additions and renovations. A bell tower was added to the front of the building. The actual bell dates back to 1896 and was donated by Mr. Dave Hubbard, a former West parent and current School Board member.
We were delighted in 2006 when the art room was renovated. During that same summer, a much-needed drop-off, pick-up driveway was added to the front of the building. It has helped ensure the safety of our students.
Throughout the many years, West has evolved to the child-centered school that we have today. Our parents, students, and staff work "Hand in Hand" to provide educational excellence for all students.
