Parent Web Access

parent-access.gifA couple of years ago, we implemented a Parent Web Access (RWA) system to improve communication with our parents. All parents who registered last year will continue to use their same login information. Keep in mind your username is your email address and if you have forgotten your password, you are able to reset it by clicking FORGOT PASSWORD.
New parents that register over the summer will receive the necessary information mailed to their home address.

For those of you who are new to District 47, Web Access (PWA), is a convenient way to access your child’s information, i.e., demographic, attendance and report cards. Report cards are available for viewing the next school day after the report cards are sent home. Click on the Parent Web Access  logo above for more information.
If you have any questions on accessing PWA, please email the helpdesk: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

clock hands.jpgAdditional Early Release Days Approved for the 2011-2012 School Year- Facts and Schedule

Purpose

During this past April's Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the implementation of five early release days for the 2011-2012 school year for the purposes of engaging District 47 teachers in structured and targeted staff development from which we hope to improve student learning outcomes.  While the concept of staff release time being utilized in this capacity is new to District 47, it is a relatively common practice in many neighboring school districts including our local area high school district.

Celebrating Birthdays

mp9003848141.jpgDue to health and medical concerns, this year the South Elementary School staff has recommended non-food item alternatives to traditional ‘birthday treats.’  We hope our families will honor our request to choose an alternative to food items.  And please remember, bringing in a ‘treat’ of any type is certainly not a requirement for birthday recognition.
Each student will have his/her birthday announced over the public address system at the beginning of the day during announcements, then will be asked to come to the office to pick out a Birthday Book.

Non-food alternative treat ideas:

•Donate a book to the class or library in your student’s honor for all to enjoy.
(We will add the child’s name on a nameplate inside the book.)
•Special pencils/erasers for each student
•Stickers
•Miscellaneous school supply items donated to the classroom

Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Coming to South...

catchheader-1.png
We are excited to announce that we will be joining Husmann, West, and Coventry Elementary Schools in District 47, as we implement the CATCH Program (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) into our South School community beginning next fall.  This beneficial program reinforces healthy behaviors through a coordinated approach in the Health classroom, in the Cafeteria, in Physical Education, and at Home.  CATCH makes nutrition leaning and physical activity fun, and our goal is to teach our children how to be healthy for a lifetime! Stay tuned…more to come!
