During these cold winter months please make sure to be dressed appropriately for the weather outside. When the temperature and windchill are above zero students may go out for a few minutes during their lunch period.

We will be giving your child state required assessments during the week of March 1st-March 5th. All testing will be done between the hours of 8:30-11:00 daily. It is vital that your students be in attendance during this time. Please refrain from scheduling any type of appointments during this time.

Our Winter 2 sports season is under way! Practice for wrestling, girl's basketball, and 6th grade spirit squad have begun and our season will start soon. You can get all the information for practices and games you need under the Activities area on the left. Calendars for all the different sports are under Athletic PDF's . Check them out!

To all CURRENT 7th/8th grade Life Skills students. We are entering into the Sewing portion of the curriculum on Monday, February 8th. All 7/8th grade students will need some fabric for their main project which will be a pillowcase. Your student will need 3/4 yard of 44" fabric for the body of the pillowcase. This should be a print of interest to the student.

7th Grade Parents:
The Seventh Grade 7-Blue, 7-White and 7-Gold Teams are planning a field trip to the "C" You At The Movies, Inc. - McHenry Downtown Theatre located at 1204 North Green Street, McHenry, IL. The permission slip for your students is located under the RBMS Forms link on the left of the page. Please click on the link to access the field trip permission slip. Your son/daughter can then bring in the slip to their teacher.

The sixth grade students will all be taking a field trip to see a new movie on either Tuesday, February 16th or Wednesday, February 17th. The movie, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief will provide a great opportunity to enhance the language arts curriculum.

BERNOTAS SPELLING BEE CHAMP CROWNED |
|
On January 19, 36 expert spellers from all grades competed in the building-wide spelling bee. After 10 intense rounds, a winner and runner were chosen! 7th grader Matt A. was our grand champion, spelling the word "brigadier." The runner up was 8th grader Delaney L. Matt will compete in the district-wide spelling bee on February 11, at 7:00 pm at Lundahl Middle School. Good Luck Matt!

BERNOTAS GEOGRAPHY BEE NEWS: |
"Which Gulf Coast state that is a leading producer of rice has the Mississippi River running along most of it's eastern border?" This was the tiebreaker question correctly answered by 7th grader Patrick B. to win the school championship of the National Geography Bee held on January 15th.
