graduation-hat.jpg

HONORS DAY and 8TH GR HONORS NIGHT(Graduation) INFORMATION

Honors’ Assembly will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, June 4.  At that time sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students will be recognized for their achievements during the year.
Eighth grade students will be dismissed after the Honors' Assembly at 10:15 a.m., with transportation available for bus students.  Sixth and seventh graders will remain in school and be dismissed at 2:14 p.m. - their usual dismissal time.
The eighth grade Honors’ Night program will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4th.  The purpose of this program is to honor all eighth grade students who have earned recognition during the school year.  In addition, eighth graders will receive their certificates of promotion that night.  They will be finished with school after this program.
Due to limited seating in our main gymnasium, each eighth grade family will receive two tickets for the Honors' Night program.  These tickets will be distributed to eighth grade students in homeroom on Wednesday, May 30th.  Unused tickets should be returned to our office.  Extra tickets will not be available this year.  As in the past, our program will be televised via live, closed circuit TV that evening.  No tickets are needed for closed circuit viewing and it has been our experience that this option is best suited for younger family members and other relatives who plan to attend.  If you should have any questions or concerns, please contact Lundahl Middle School.
Tuesday, June 5th, will be the last school day for sixth and seventh graders.  On that day sixth and seventh grade students will attend school on an abbreviated schedule.  Students will arrive at 7:40 a.m. with all buses running regular routes.  The day will finish at 9:30 a.m. with bus transportation provided for bus students.  Report cards and miscellaneous items will be distributed to students on this day.

LUNDAHL BANDS TAKE FIRST at Music n the Parks

This year’s Music In the Parks Festival was a huge success for the LMS Bands!!  Purple, Gold and Monday Night Jazz Ensemble competed at the Music in the Parks Festival, in Grayslake and Gurnee! (12th Year for them!!)  Big kudos to our all 3 bands placed first in their division with an Excellent rating, and the Purple Band received top honors with the first place overall concert band!!  Way to go purple band!!  The really outstanding part was that the Band Department Students also received the “Esprit de Corps”  award; which means, they were an outstanding example of what it means to be in band. They went above and beyond the music this year!  They were respectful, polite, helpful, cooperative, and courteous to all workers, and employees of music in the parks and to the buildings the competitions were held.  They really were great examples this year.  LMS band students, you were an outstanding representative of Lundahl Middle School and District 47, and were a proud example of middle school students everywhere.  We are very proud to be your directors.  Way to go!!

PARKING LOT TRAFFIC

PICKING UP STUDENTS AFTER SCHOOL IN THE PARKING LOT

safety-web.jpgParents, please, we need your cooperation FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN- When you are picking up your child at the end of the day or from an after school activity, please pull ALL the way into the parking lot and pull into a designated parking space (if available). Currently, cars are sitting on both sides of the entrance driveway and waiting for their child.  This is creating a huge traffic jam out on Nash Rd.and blocking the entrance.  Please pull all the way into the parking lot and park in a space.  Do not stop and wait in the entrance driveway.  Thank you for your cooperation.

PARENT WEB ACCESS

Theparent-access.gif PWA was created a couple years ago to improve communication with our parents.  You are able to view your child's grades, attendance, schedule, and your profile information, ie - cell phone, work phone, email address...    All parents who registered last year will continue to use their same login information.  Keep in mind your user name is your email address and if you have forgotten your password, you are able to reset it by clicking FORGOT PASSWORD.

New parents that registered over the summer will receive the information mailed to their home address. For those of you who are new to district 47. The Parent Web Access (PWA), is  a convenient way to access your child’s information, i.e., demographic, attendance, gradebook assignments and report cards.  Report Cards are available for viewing the next school day after the report cards are sent home.

Please Note:  Assignments are updated daily starting September 9th; however you may always contact the teacher directly with questions regarding assignments.

If you have any questions on accessing PWA, please e-mail the helpdesk: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

LMS BAND NEWS

Dear Band Parents!
Our year is coming to an end (notice I didn’t say ‘winding down’, we don’t wind down, we come to a screeching halt!!), and soon you will no longer be getting these annoying e-mails from me…well…some of you won’t get them for a few months.  However, while there’s still news to share, I’m going to keep sending you this stuff.

Band Banquet.  The LMS Band Banquet is coming up on May 30, 2012.  The Band Banquet is our last chance for us all to gather as a group, socialize a bit, meet other band parents and families, eat a wonderful catered dinner, and we also distribute the end of the year awards to the students.  ALL band students and their families are welcome to attend.   Mrs Holland has requested an e-mail be sent out that you will be getting shortly after this one.  Parents will be needed to help with various needs for the evening, some things before the evening, and some things during the evening.   If you are willing to help contact Ruth Holland at:     This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Barnes & Nobles May 19th - Mrs. Trow has been finalizing details for the Barnes and Nobles day, May 19th.   We are pretty well set, and we even have had several students volunteer to perform.  (O.K., I’ll be honest…some were bribed, some were coerced…. I mean encouraged….emphatically)  I will be bringing a computer with Smart Music to use as the accompaniment, and Mrs. Trow and I will be bringing the rest of the percussion that we know will be needed that day.  (The percussion ensemble wants to perform, and so does the Monday Night Jazz Ensemble).  Our time slot is from 5:00-8:30, so I will be getting the schedule set for that in the next week or so…I hope….  More students, parents that play instruments are welcome to get together as well.  In fact, parents are strongly encouraged to play that night.  Let the kids see that music can be a lifelong journey!!  I will have my trumpet there too so if anyone wants to play a duet, let me know!!  The whole day is suppose to be fun and support the arts, as well as promote our classrooms and Lundahl Middle School.  The teachers who are participating are able to create a wish list too!  Patrons of Barnes and Nobles can purchase the items on any teachers wish list.  This is a great way for teachers to get books, video’s and other valuable teaching aids into their classrooms without having to purchase these items themselves.
