Welcome to Wehde Early Childhood The Wehde Early Childhood Center opened in the fall of 2001 as a permanent home for the district early childhood programs. Three separate programs are housed in the Early Childhood Center; the Early Childhood Special Education Program, the Preschool Speech and Language Therapy program, and Preschool Diagnostics. The Early Childhood Special Education Program is a full preschool program for children with special needs. Preschool Speech and Language therapy is a program that services children who exhibit speech and language needs that can be addressed in a 2 day per week program, in a group of 4 students for 50 minutes. Preschool Diagnostics is the entry point for many of our students.
The diagnostic team provides screenings for children ages 3-5 whose parents are concerned about some area of their child's development. After screening, the team determines if further information is needed and will complete any evaluations required. A Multidisciplinary conference will then occur to determine if a child qualifies for services in order to provide for their needs. The Wehde Early Childhood Center is a busy place! We are constantly striving to better meet the changing needs of our district's 3-5 year old population.
