District 47 is known throughout the area as a leader in innovative teaching techniques and curriculum. We have the largest K-8 district in McHenry County, and one of the most progressive. We are large enough to provide a rewarding work experience, but small enough so each person can see their contribution to the organization.

Crystal Lake School District 47 is a highly regarded education provider for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students. District 47 covers 47.8 square miles, including the city of Crystal Lake, as well as sections of Lake In The Hills, Cary, Woodstock, Huntley and McHenry. We have 12 schools providing quality education to over 9,000 children, plus a center dedicated to pre-school children.
The Crystal Lake area has experienced dramatic growth the past several years, and District 47 has added new schools and renovated existing schools to accommodate the growth. There are over 1,000 employees in District 47, which includes over 600 certified staff. Everyone is committed to helping children acquire skills, knowledge, and attitudes that are essential for success in today’s society.

Crystal Lake School District 47 offers a competitive Employee Benefits Package.
Medical
The Board of Educations Contribution helps offset costs for full time Employees. Major medical coverage is provided for accidents and illness. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available.
Life
$10,000 Basic Group Life and Accidental Death is provided to each full-time employee. $90,000 of additional insurance may be purchased in $10,000 increments.
Dental
We provide 100% coverage for preventative and 50% coverage for basic and major procedures, with a $50 annual deductible per person. When participating in family coverage, orthodontics is also covered.
Vision
We cover eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses.
Disability
We provide loss-of-income protection due to long-term illness and accident.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Pre-tax savings funds are available for non-reimbursed medical expenses and dependent daycare.
Reimbursement for Education
We encourage continued education by covering expenses incurred through educational conferences, workshops, college coursework and conventions.
Retirement Plan
Certified Teachers are enrolled in the Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), which provides excellent retirement annuities, disability, and death benefits. Non-certified Staff are enrolled in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) which provides excellent retirement benefits.
Paid Time Off
Certified and Non-Certified staff receive 10 Paid Holidays per year.
Two to three Personal Leave Days are allowed for each employee.
All employees are allowed 10 Sick Days per year, and unused days are banked for future use.
12 month employees are eligible for vacation benefits.
